Pehrspace closing after 36-hour marathon concert
If you gotta go, this is one way to do it. A bevy of SoCal bands and musicians will be on hand for a 36-hour concert to say goodbye to Echo Park music and arts venue Pehrspace.
The closure comes two months after another beloved independent music, downtown L.A. punk club The Smell, received a demolition notice.
Pehrspace, located in a Glendale Blvd. strip mall in Echo Park, will be shutting its doors on Sunday, July 31 after more than 10 years. But first, a marathon session of music and performance.
Split up into four-hour blocks curated by different people, performers during the 36-hour marathon session include Julia Holter, Young Lovers, Sacred Destinies, DJ Luiza Sa-Davis and James Aranda.
The Pehrathon began at 11 a.m. Saturday and will wrap up at 11:59 p.m. Sunday night. The event is all-ages. Guests are asked to make a $10 to $20 donation with proceeds funding the search for a new performance space.
Pehrspace is located at 325 Glendale Blvd., only a couple doors away from the former location of Haitian restaurant TiGeorges, which shuttered in April 2016 after a new landlord bought the building.
Those who can't attend can still watch a livestream of the farewell concert.
