OC judge assigns guardian to look into finances of octuplets
The mother of the six-month-old octuplets may soon have a guardian looking over her shoulder. KPCC’s Susan Valot says an Orange County judge today agreed to appoint a guardian to review the finances of Nadya Suleman’s children.
Suleman reportedly signed a deal for the octuplets and her six other children to star in a reality TV show. Earlier this year, a group that advocates on behalf of child actors went to court to get a judge to appoint a guardian to protect the financial interests of the children. Now the judge has gone along with the request from the group A Minor Consideration – and a guardian is in place.
After court, Suleman said she was “totally indifferent” about the judge’s decision. But she’s decided to appeal. Suleman’s attorney said the case isn’t in the best interests of the kids. He says people who don’t know Suleman’s 14 children are trying to interfere in their lives for what he claims is “publicity and financial reward.”
