Newsom's budget proposal delivers on early childhood funding promises

On the campaign trail, Gavin Newsom promised he’d invest in early childhood care and education. Now he’s taking the first steps to deliver on those promises. The budget proposal unveiled Thursday sets aside nearly $2 billion dollars for programs for young children and families. Newsom also wants the state to offer the longest paid family leave policy in the country.

Read a detailed breakdown of the budget proposal at LAist.
