Update: 405 partly reopened after multi-vehicle crash in Van Nuys
Updated 12:13 p.m. Eleven people were injured Wednesday in a multi-vehicle wreck on the southbound 405 Freeway in Van Nuys.
The collision happened around 9:30 a.m. near Sherman Way.
Los Angeles Fire spokesman Shawn Lenske said the crash involved a big rig, a catering truck and four other vehicles.
"Six were ... minor to moderate. We have one serious. Those seven were all transported to local area hospitals. And we have four that were treated and released on scene," Lenske said.
At one point, the wreck blocked all lanes of the southbound 405 and backed up traffic for miles. The California Highway Patrol has reopened only the carpool and the number one and two lanes.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
