Morning commute headache looms for commuters who use Coldwater Canyon
Later this month, a lot of L.A. and San Fernando Valley commuters who use Coldwater Canyon will have to find another route for a while.
Starting March 23rd, water and power crews will be replacing pipe underneath Coldwater between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive. Because Coldwater is so narrow, and crews will be using heavy equipment to remove and replace pipes, DWP will close that stretch of the road weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. And that will go on for a month, ending on April 26th.
Coldwater will be closed most of the day on Saturdays as well, from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. DWP will open one lane in each direction during overnight hours and on Sundays.
The work is part of DWP’s citywide project to upgrade L.A.’s water infrastructure.
Remember, the work doesn’t start until March 23rd, and when it does, Coldwater will be open until 8:30 each morning. But for those of you who use Coldwater after 8:30, you'll want to start thinking about alternate routes.
