Malibu students relocated during investigation into health concerns
Some students at Malibu High School were being relocated to other classrooms Wednesday while officials investigate potential health problems on campus, according to NBC4.
Parents sent a letter to the school Monday asking that their kids be moved from their usual classrooms after three teachers working in the same building were recently diagnosed with similar types of cancer.
"Once the school confirms that it's safe, the kids can move back in. If we find out that the grounds are unsafe, well, then it was smart to relocate them," parent Derek Newman told NBC4.
Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Superintendent Sandra Lyons addressed hundreds of parents packed into Malibu High's auditorium Tuesday night for a meeting about contamination testing. Lyons said Los Angeles County officials are conducting a voluntary survey of the health of school employees, and mold tests could be completed by Friday.
