Randy's Donuts in Inglewood, famous for the giant donut-shaped sign on its roof, celebrated its 60th anniversary Wednesday.

The building is a pop culture icon, seen everywhere from the video game Grand Theft Auto to an episode of The Simpsons.

Randy's has maintained a close-knit group of customers who have been coming since childhood. Current co-owner Larry Weintraub appreciated the chance to talk with some of the regular customers at the afternoon anniversary event.

“I mean it really makes my heart feel good. There was a lady here. She was here with her, she used to come as a kid and she was telling the lady how, how uh, how they used to love the donuts when their parents used to bring them. And this was back in the early 50s and you heard her talk about it and it was just. I mean my heart was just sighing it was so great.”
