Rare Looney Tunes cartoons screen Wednesday night in Hollywood
If you love Looney Tunes, it’s your lucky day. An event on Wednesday night in Hollywood features some rarely seen classic cartoons.
The program of rare cartoons on 16 millimeter film is part of an evening with Jerry Beck on the history of "Looney Tunes." Two of the gems he’ll show will be the very first Looney Tunes: “Sinking in the Bathtub” and the art deco “Page Miss Glory,” directed by Tex Avery.
Beck is an animation historian and a former studio exec with Nickelodeon and Disney. His latest book is “The 100 Greatest Looney Tune Cartoons,” a followup to his “Looney Tunes: The Ultimate Visual Guide.”
Hollywood Heritage, a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation of Hollywood history, is sponsoring the event. The organization is devoted to educating people about the early film industry and how it helped shape Hollywood.
Tickets to the event are $5 – they’re only available at the door. Parking is free.
