LAX’s Encounter restaurant closed
Los Angeles International Airport’s Encounter restaurant, which is housed in the retro futuristic structure in the middle of the airport, has closed, according to airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles, Inside SoCal reported.
The airport released this statement to Inside SoCal:
Delaware North Corporation, operator of the Encounter Restaurant, notified us several weeks ago that they decided not to continue operation of the restaurant. We are discussing operating concepts and options with several other concessionaires.
The closure comes as the fate of another LAX restaurant—the 48-year-old Proud Bird—is in question. The Proud Bird was set to close at the end of 2013 but will be open another year as the owner looks into ways to cut expenses.
