LAX delays over after low clouds slow flights
Update 6:45 p.m. Delays have ended
Traffic in and out of LAX is now back to normal, according to the FAA's website.
Flights were grounded and then significantly delayed earlier Thursday due to low clouds.
Earlier: Significant delays at LAX
After resuming flights following a ground stop Thursday morning due to fog, LAX is experiencing flight delays Thursday afternoon.
“All day we’ve had some delays due to the low cloud ceiling,” LAX Public Information Officer Amanda Parsons told KPCC.
A Traffic Management Program put in effect for traffic arriving to LAX is causing some arriving flights to be delayed an average of 1 hour and 18 minutes, according to the FAA website. No destination-specific delays are being reported.
Departing flights are experiencing gate hold and taxi delays between 16 and 30 minutes in length and increasing, the FAA site noted.
LAX and the FAA recommend passengers check with their airline for specific delays.
“We’d advise anyone to check their flight status prior to coming to the airport,” said Parsons.
