LAPD declares no shooting at USC, clarifying initial reports

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded Monday to reports of a shooting at the University of Southern California. A university emergency alert instructed staff and students to shelter in place.
Within the hour, however, police confirmed that the campus was safe and that no shooting had occurred.
Reports of a shooting were initially received at 12:17 p.m., according to the police department.

According to the USC alert, officers searched Fertitta Hall, which is part of the university’s Marshall School of Business.
