Normally, the prospect of driving from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica induces an episode of cringing. So, clearing those streets of cars seems like a bicyclist's heaven. Luckily for them, that becomes a reality every year.

Once again, the Los Angeles Marathon is in town, so break out those running shoes (unless you've already been training for months).

While you run/walk/bike

The 26-mile trek going down this Sunday will span over several neighborhoods, giving you the chance to actually take in the scenery instead of being consumed by road rage.

In addition to the physical activity, we don't expect you to forego documenting your journey on social media. Participants will find motivation to get to the finish line in over 40 Snapchat geo-filters along the course route — whether you snap other runners or yourself is up to you.

The route, road closures

It takes extreme willpower and determination to participate in the Los Angeles Marathon. However, if you prefer to lounge around or partake in a less physically taxing activity this weekend, you'll still experience some duress.

The 26-mile trek going down this Sunday will cause several dozen street closures form Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica, so chances of traffic-induced stress for non-marathoners is high.

Check out the map below for all road closures and make sure to plan out your non-race day accordingly:

View Larger Map While there'll be plenty of street closures to make way for runners and bicyclists, freeways will also be sectioned off. Several on and off-ramps of the 110, 101 and 405 freeways will be off-limits to motorists, starting early in the morning.

Shuttles

To make it a truly car-less day, all participants have the option to take a complimentary shuttle from a few points across the city to Dodger Stadium.

Shuttles will be available for pre- and post-race pickup in Santa Monica, Union Station and other locations in downtown L.A. Pick-up times vary and a reservation for a spot on a shuttle is required. For more information, visit the marathon's website
