LA Football Club's new $350 million stadium just got a name
A $350 million stadium for L.A.'s new soccer club now has a name: the Banc of California Stadium.
The stadium in Exposition Park will be home to the Los Angeles Football Club, Major League Soccer's newest addition to its roster of teams. The official name was announced Tuesday at a groundbreaking ceremony.
The LAFC still doesn't have any players, but it and the stadium are scheduled to debut in 2018. The team will be represented by the symbol of a wing and the colors black, gold and red.

Banc of California Stadium will hold 22,000 and is expected to create 1,800 full-time permanent jobs, according to the soccer club's website. Construction of the stadium will create 1,200 local jobs.
Metro access from the Expo Line and bike access are both part of the plan, making the stadium accessible via public transportation.
Los Angeles Football Club owners, including Hollywood funny-man Will Ferrell and Earvin "Magic" Johnson, dug shovels into the ground at the construction site to mark the official beginning of the stadium's construction.
