James Wood, CEO of Getty Museums, dies
A leader of the art world has died. James Wood was CEO of the Getty Center and the Getty Villa. He was also President of the J. Paul Getty Trust.
He died Friday at age 69. Wood came to L.A. after serving for 25 years as head of the Art Institute in Chicago.
Louise Bryson is completing her term as chairman of the board at the Getty Trust. She helped bring Wood to Los Angeles. "Jim Wood brought credibility. He brought his love of art. And he brought his collaborative style to the Getty at an important time," said Bryson. "He will be greatly missed. And he contributed highly to an important institution in Los Angeles. “
Funeral services for Wood are pending. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Bryson also serves on the board at Southern California Public Radio.
