Hollywood security guard shot, in critical condition
A 45-year-old security guard was in critical condition this morning after being shot in Hollywood.
The shooting was reported at 6:23 p.m. Monday in a strip mall parking lot at Santa Monica Boulevard and Western Avenue, said Sgt. Alex Ortiz of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.
Two men believed to have been involved in the shooting were seen running west on Santa Monica, Ortiz said.
The victim, a Los Angeles resident, was unconscious when police arrived, said Ortiz. Firefighters revived the man and rushed him to a hospital where he underwent surgery.
"He is now in critical condition," Ortiz said this morning.
No weapons were recovered. The suspects were described as men. The shooting was apparently gang-related.
