Gold Line repairs, delays to continue through Friday afternoon
Rail passengers should expect continued delays along the Metro Gold Line.
The big rig that crashed onto the tracks Thursday morning in Pasadena has been removed, according to Metro, but repairs to the power supply system and other damage assessments are expected to continue through most of Friday.
Metro spokesman Dave Sotero told KPCC the crash did significant damage to the catenary system and power poles for the train, which have to be replaced. After that, the track will eventually be tested to make sure everything works.
Caltrans has closed a 500-foot section of the 210 between San Gabriel and Sierra Madre boulevards to accommodate repair vehicles, Sotero said.
Gold Line service has resumed, albeit slower than usual, for the stations on both sides of the accident while buses pick up the slack between Allen and Sierra Madre Villa stations, Sotero added.
