Pomona Fairplex hosts job fair for LA County Fair jobs
The L.A. County Fair opens on August 31, but the Fairplex in Pomona is hosting a job fair Monday for those interested in working it.
This is the second of two job fairs the Fairplex has hosted for people looking to work the month of September. Spokeswoman Leslie Galerne-Smith says more than 800 people showed up to the first one a few weeks ago — far more applicants than openings. But there are still about 200 positions to fill.
"I think it just speaks to the fact that we are very selective about who we do hire because a lot of these people have to deal with our guests," says Fairplex spokeswoman Leslie Galerne-Smith. "So we are very specific about what we’re looking for: someone who’s great at customer service, who can make our guests feel special."
The jobs range from creative and events staff to admissions and parking attendants. Most pay minimum wage, but some workers can earn as much as $12 an hour.
The job fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Fairplex Expo Hall 6. Parking is at Gate 1.
