Creating a safe space for moms to navigate their grief
Hundreds of new and expectant parents gathered in Pasadena over the weekend to get tips and resources on everything from breastfeeding to baby wearing at a convention called MommyCon.
It’s not just a place to see the latest cribs and strollers up close. One of the sessions was for mothers who’d suffered miscarriages or infant loss.
"We don’t often understand those emotions that surround the loss of a baby," said Ambyr Amen-Ra, who led the session. She had two miscarriages and says most people just didn’t understand her grief.
She went to therapy to gain tools to "navigate" her grief and runs this session at MommyCon, as well as a Facebook group, to help other moms find that space.
