Coliseum Commission adds to allegations against rave promoters, ex-employees
The L.A. Memorial Coliseum Commission is adding yet more allegations to its lawsuit against two former Coliseum managers and two event promoters, accusing them of making improper cash payments in the thousands to a union representative. The funds were ostensibly to be used as wages for stagehands.
The commission sued former Coliseum General Manager Patrick Lynch and Events Manager Todd DeStefano two months ago.
The lawsuit accused them of defrauding the Coliseum of more than a million dollars and conspiring with promoters Insomniac and Go Ventures to divert money from rave concerts.
Now the commission is taking aim at large cash payments that it says went to a union representative in connection with Go Ventures and Insomniac events.
The commission said in a statement that the cash apparently was used to pay stagehands working at events, and the two former Coliseum managers knew about the payments.
The commission is looking into how much cash changed hands, whether anyone personally benefited and whether taxes and pension contributions were paid.
The targets of the lawsuit have denied wrongdoing.
