California governor to resume prostate cancer treatments
California Gov. Jerry Brown will need to undergo further treatment for prostate cancer, his oncologist announced Saturday.
Dr. Eric Small said Brown's disease is not extensive and can be readily treated with a short course of radiotherapy.
Small said in a statement "there are not expected to be any significant side effects. The prognosis for Governor Brown is excellent.”
Brown is expected to continue a full work schedule during his treatment, which will occur between late February and early March.
Brown was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012.
In January 2013, he told reporters he had completed his prostate treatments . "“I’m ready, I’m raring to go, and don’t expect me to leave too soon,” the governor said then.
