Lanes of the eastbound 60 Freeway were closed late Thursday afternoon thanks to a big rig that exploded in flames, according to NBC L.A. The fire was in Hacienda Heights, according to a tweet from the California Highway Patrol.

The truck caused a brush fire on the nearby hillside, but was subsequently put out. It was reported before 4:30 p.m. on the Pomona Freeway, west of Seventh Avenue, according to NBC L.A.

Video from the scene shows traffic snarled for miles along the eastbound lanes.

The fire comes during a period of dry heat and low humidity in the area.
