Anaheim fire burns exterminator company
ANAHEIM - A fire at an exterminator company in Anaheim prompted firefighters to advise residents to stay indoors to avoid exposure to hazardous chemicals, a city fire official said.
The fire started around 5:45 p.m. at Western Exterminator in the 300 block of North Crescent Way, said Maria Sabol of the Anaheim Fire Department.
"It is a 50 by 50 outbuilding, and inside there is a boat, some vehicles and some containers,'' Sabol said. "Because this is a company that deals with chemicals, we're concerned that might be what's inside the containers.''
Sabol said residents in the surrounding area -- west of Euclid Street, east of Bayport Circle and north of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway -- were told to "shelter in place'' as rescuers tended to the blaze.
No injuries were immediately reported.
