On Monday, French police revealed that they had arrested 17 people in connection with the alleged armed robbery of reality star Kim Kardashian West, which occurred in a Paris hotel room in October of 2016. Now, reports indicate that one of the men being questioned is a chauffeur Kardashian West had hired during her stay in France. The driver in question is employed by a private car service that the Kardashian family has hired in the past when staying in Paris, according to the Le Monde. Police say that the driver was the last person to see Kardashian West before she was robbed, as he dropped her off at the hotel earlier that night. He may have also known known that Kardashian West was alone—her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, and her bodyguard had gone to a nightclub. Also detained was the driver’s brother. Le Monde reports that three of the suspects are women, and many of them are known to local law enforcement due to previous charges. The oldest suspect is in his 70s, and, according to L’Express, the mastermind of the robbery is believed to be a 60-year-old man who was arrested in Vincennes.

On October 3, 2016, five men allegedly broke into Kardashian West's Paris hotel suite, tied her up at gunpoint, and stole $9 million worth of jewelry before fleeing the scene. Kardashian West was "badly shaken but physically unharmed," according to her reps.

Investigators used DNA evidence and surveillance footage of the men leaving the scene in their investigation. Police say that one of the DNA samples taken from the hotel "matched an individual known to police for robbery and criminal offenses."

Kardashian West will talk about her harrowing experience in the upcoming season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which premieres in March.
