Highland & Franklin Completes
Three decades and three million dollars later, the construction to fix the terrible and un-fun intersection at Highland and Franklin Avenues has been completed, save for 2% of it (translation: a few cosmetic improvements).
But what's different now? The main point of the project was to give Highland three through lanes, that is, lanes that are dedicated to it's function (no right-turn lane and southbound lane all in one). Here's what's new:
- A dedicated left-turn arrow on to eastbound Franklin from southbound Highland (this used to be almost impossible before)
- Both the north and south intersections were widened to relieve congestion.
- From lower Franklin onto Highland, there are now two left turn lanes and one right turn lane.
