Five people were hospitalized after a high-speed car chase ended in a three-car collision Downtown early today.

Police said they started chasing a stolen black BMW 3-series car near the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, at South Hoover Street and West 42nd Street. The chase continued on surface streets before the BMW crashed into a silver sedan Downtown at South Flower Street and West Adams Boulevard at 1:25 a.m., City News Service reported.

The crash overturned the silver car and pushed it into a DWP truck. Police officers sprayed the overturned car with fire extinguishers and pulled the vehicles occupants out, a videographer on the scene said.

One person has been charged with vehicular theft. Three victims from the overturned car and two from the BMW were hospitalized; their conditions are not known.
