High School Football Coach Arrested For Having Sex With Underage Student

An assistant high school football coach suspected of having sex with a 15-year-old student at the school where he coached was arrested yesterday at his home near Santa Clarita.School officials at Hart High School reported to sheriff's deputies that they suspected that the 20-year-old coach Nicolas Ovendale and a girl had sex in his car near the Stevenson Ranch area in late October.
This was Ovendale's first year coaching — he had played football for the school from 2005 until 2008, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Sheriff's investigators said they looked into the case and arrested him yesterday. Ovendale was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on one count of lewd acts with a child and one count of unlawful sexual intercourse. Ovendale's bail is set at $50,000.
