Hail, Snow, Black Ice Force Closure of Grapevine
With gusty winds that could reach 70 MPH expected to last into tonight, the I-5's Grapevine section has been reeling from dangerous driving conditions since early this morning. "Shortly after 7:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, and then about 8:15 a.m. shut down the northbound lanes at Vista del Lago," reports LA Now. The CHP has already been called about 20 accidents in the area, and reported conditions on the heavily-traveled section of freeway include ice, hail, snow, and black ice. More on today's windy weather.
