Fresh & Easy's Hollywood Store Starts Wine-ing This Monday

One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

You (hopefully) heard it here first: The Fresh & Easy Hollywood store will begin to stock beer and wine starting Monday. The F&E chain carries around 70 wines that are exclusive to them, and selected with the help of Phil Reedman, Master of Wine (Masters of Wine are highly regarded throughout the industry as extensively trained wine experts, and there are less than 300 in the world). They've won dozens of awards for their special wines--many of them retailing at bargain prices (less than $10/bottle, with some great finds in the $2-$4 range). You might also want to grab one of their canvas reusable wine carrier bags, which holds up to 7 bottles, for $1.99 each.

Recently we gave a few of their special selections a go, and were quite pleased with the offerings, particularly the Ogio Primotivo ($4.99). In addition to the wine they carry beer, including Taurino, which is brew from El Salvador only found at F&E and sold for $6.99 for a 12pk of bottles. Many Fresh & Easy stores carry wine and beer, but not all. Starting Monday you can count on finding it in Hollywood, but be sure to check ahead with your nearest location before you head over to get the hooch. (And hey, this could be a great place to stock up this summer when you're headed up the hill a ways to the Hollywood Bowl!)

One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our nonprofit newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our communities. We are free to follow facts wherever they lead and to hold power to account without fear or favor. Our only loyalty is to our readers and listeners and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen Southern California’s communities.
