Vegans, vegetarians, and food lovers have been served up a second dose of bad news when it comes to beloved local eateries closing up shop. On the heels of the announcement of the demise of Tarzana's Madeleine Bistro comes confirmation that Hel-Mel's Pure Luck is indeed shutting down, too. EaterLA did some digging, based on a mishmash of comments on a blogging LA post putting the potential rumor out there.

Turns out, the rumor is true, per the employee EaterLA reached via phone: "yes, indeed, the restaurant will shutter within the next 45 days, at which point a wine bar is scheduled to move in." Those new owners are 5 M Group LLC, of which little--well, pretty much nothing--is known right now.

Blogger QuarryGirl laments the loss to the local vegan dining scene:

we have had some petty complaints about pure luck in the past…but if the truth be told, they’re one of the best vegan restaurants around. they have amazing jackfruit that doubles as carnitas and pulled-pork, not to mention an amazing selection of craft beer.
