Weekend Eats: Gatsby Cocktails, a BBQ Throw Down, and Mother's Day Brunch
The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied -- and sated, for that matter.
Gatsby cocktails at Oldfield's Liquor Room: Culver City's Oldfield’s Liquor Room is celebrating the roaring 20’s and the release of the new "Great Gatsby" film by offering a discounted classic cocktail from back in the day -- the Bees Knees, made with gin, honey and lemon. Bring in your Great Gatsby movie ticket stub this weekend and it's only $7.
West Coast BBQ Classic: Top BBQ Pit Masters from around the country will compete for prize money and the opportunity to be selected as the winner of the coveted “People’s Choice” award at the Queen Mary this Saturday. For the fans, there'll also be a backyard bar sponsored by Jack Daniel's, beer pong, live music, and a special appearance by the L.A. King's Ice Crew. Oh, and boatloads of BBQ. Tickets are $10 online pre-sale and $15 at the door. You'll need to purchase food tickets too, with each going for $2. Parking is $10 with event validation, and your tickets do not include entry to the ship or attractions. The comp goes from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Mother's Day brunch: The big event this weekend is paying tribute to your mamas. From a flamenco feast in Silver Lake to French champagne and macarons, we have you covered. Here are 5 great brunches around to take the family to to celebrate.
