The Santa Monica Farmers' Markets will be implementing some changes in October as to which prepared food vendors are permitted to operate within the four different weekly markets run by the City of Santa Monica.

Seeking local vendors who would be able to provide customers with food items at sustainable prices, a committee of seven reviewed the more than five dozen applications for selling spaces. Current vendors were invited to apply. "The rating criteria for selecting prepared food vendors places an emphasis on sustainably grown, unique and high quality food that supports the farmers market mission of promoting California farmers and increasing consumption of California grown produce."

They've also opted to created a weekly featured restaurant program that will showcase a different restaurant located in the markets' operating area for the Main Street and Downtown markets.
