With our free press under threat and federal funding for public media gone, your support matters more than ever. Help keep the LAist newsroom strong, become a monthly member or increase your support today.

Cuteness shall prevail Friday, when Sanrio opens a permanent Hello Kitty Mini Cafe at the Westfield Santa Anita in Arcadia. According to our friends at Eater, the cafe-inside-the-mall will feature pastry cases and merchandise galore. Sanrio previously opened a Hello Kitty pop-up at the end of 2015 in Irvine's Spectrum Center.

There will be sweets on hand (think donut macarons, Hello Kitty pocket pies, and "birthday cake") while supplies last and they likely won't last long, so we suggest Sanrio superfans arrive early. See the full menu here. The cafe officially opens at 11 a.m., but the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports that Westfield management expects the true believers crowds to start lining up soon after sunrise, because it's never too early for adorableness.

Martin Heidegger once asked why there were beings at all, instead of nothing, and we feel so, so sad that he had to die in 1976 before the Hello Kitty Mini Cafe opened in Arcadia, because if he had been able to see it, he surely would have known our purpose here. Hope amidst the nothingness will finally be available tomorrow, while supplies last, in a 1,300,000 square-foot indoor shopping mall adjacent to the Santa Anita Racetrack. See you there.
