The stylish taproom of Glendale's first craft brewery will start pouring pints today. While Eagle Rock Brewery is just to the south and Golden Road is just over the tracks and technically in L.A., Glendale hasn't had a brewery (at least since Prohibition) to call its own—until now. Thanks to a couple of homebrewers, Sherwin Antonio and Kirk Nishikawa, the Brewyard Beer Company will open its doors to the public starting today, according to their Facebook page. Located at 906 Western Avenue, just off San Fernando Rd., the 4,500 square foot space features a 15-barrel brewing system and a cool-looking taproom with picnic benches, a bar and plenty of exposed brick with faux-windows.

Starting today at 5 p.m., Brewyard Beer Co. will pour their first four beers, which include California Common Lager (a Steam Beer), Passion fruit Saison, Black Schwarzbier Lager & an IPL (India Pale Lager), with more beers in the works. And while their IndieGoGo campaign didn't quite hit their intended mark, they did manage to raise $6,000 to help open the taproom—which clearly helped. In addition to pouring their beers, Antonio and Nishikawa intend to use the space as a venue for local artists, and they've been given the go-ahead from the city to host food trucks, music and occasional live performances.

In honor of Veterans Day, vets will get their first two tasters free today with a Military ID.

Brewyard Beer Company is located at 906 Western Avenue, Glendale. The taproom will be open, starting today, Wednesdays through Fridays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
