For a few foodies on the internet playground, playing with food is more than just a game, it's a way of life. Now The Cooking Channel's "Log On & Eat" showcases the all-out and online devotion of enthusiastic eaters, as host Eden Grinshpan meets up with bloggers and Tweeters. We asked Grinshpan about what food she's crazy about, where she likes to eat in L.A., and how social media is changing the way we eat.

LAist: Your new show finds people who are fanatical about food. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done for food?

Eden Grinshpan: The craziest thing I ever did for food was travel to Southeast Asia with one of my best friends specifically to eat. Every day of our trip was guided by food recommendations and local market finds. For four months we literally traveled with the sole purpose of eating. We even went on a hike in northern Thailand just because we knew we would be rewarded with a whole roasted suckling pig at the end. Best trip ever!

Is there any food you’d consider yourself a fanatic about?

I am fanatical about sweet breakfast foods - Pancakes, waffles, French toast with an obscene amount of maple syrup, muffins, croissants, you name it! I have such a sweet tooth and I love baked goods.

On “Log On and Eat with Eden Grinshpan” you meet up with a few enthusiastic foodies in Los Angeles to check out Plan Check, Seoul Sausage Company, Starry Kitchen, and the Eggslut Truck. What are some of your personal favorite spots in Los Angeles?

I have to say that the restaurants we featured in L.A. on this season of Log on and Eat have become some of my new favorites.

Plan check has one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. The meat is so juicy and the toppings are brilliant - dashi cheese, ketchup leather (dehydrated ketchup) the perfect sunny fried egg, and quality bacon. They have managed to give the classic American burger a modern and delicious makeover.

I also love Seoul Sausage Company. Everything about this place is fun, creative and delicious. I love Korean food and they take flavors found in traditional Korean dishes and roll them into a ball or stuff them in a sausage. You can tell that these boys love what they do by how original and playful the food is. I had a lot of fun eating and shooting with this crew.

Do you think social media tools like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are changing the way we eat and interact with food?

Absolutely! Social media connects people with new restaurants and food trends instantly. Personally, I learn so much about places from my Twitter and Instagram - it’s insane! People are connecting on social media and learning about new foods all the time. This inspires us to try new restaurants and dishes and also try new dishes at home so that we can share online. It’s a great way to motivate yourself to cook and get creative in the kitchen.

Has meeting all of these passionate foodies affected how you look at a food, meal, or restaurant experience?

Totally! These foodies never miss a chance to share what they love with the rest of the online world and they have completely inspired me to keep an open mind, ask even more questions and never stop trying new things. Online foodies are all about being creative and having fun! How could that not inspire you!
