Eye Nosh: What's Up Doc? Carrot Cake Day!

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

We weren't kidding yesterday when we said there was a day for pretty much any foodstuff you can conjure, and, in that spirit, break out the bunny ears, because today happens to be National Carrot Cake Day.

As big fans ourselves of the veggie-flavored cake with the creamy frosting (comical carrot designs in icing don't hurt) we turned to our LAist Featured Photos pool for evidence of the sweet treat's popularity.

But we came up short. As in...only one photo. Thinking maybe it was just our photogs whose shutters weren't bugging on Bugs' favorite food in dessert form, we tried to find some LA restos and bakeries whose carrot cakes were in the spotlight. But...nope.

So we settled for some good old fashioned food porn to satisfy our carrot cake-by-camera craving right now (what--you'd prefer photos of some come-hither carrots in the raw instead?). This means we're asking you to tell us not only where you think you can get the best damn carrot cake in Los Angeles--but to also take a picture of it and add it to our pool, for crying out loud!

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
