Easter Cupcakes at Polkatots

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

Polkatots Cupcakes in Pasadena is a little girl's fairyland of pink walls and jars of rainbow-colored candies. We love their supermoist cupcakes, especially the adorable little mini cupcakes that satisfy the sweet tooth with minimum guilt.

Owners Alma and Melany have decorated some of their 14 flavors especially for Easter. The Easter mini cupcakes also come packaged in cute little 12-packs with a big, girly bow. The Bunny Hop, a nutmeggy carrot cake, would please any bunny, and most of their cupcakes are decorated with Springtime pastels that would fit in with your Easter theme.

Strawberry Shortcake, Happy Monkey (Banana-Nut Cupcake with Cream Cheese Icing), Dalmation (Vanilla-Chocolate Marble Cupcake with Vanilla Buttercream) and Lemonade are especially pleasing. Their flavor of the month for April is Cherry-Almond, but it's their Dolcissimo (Dulce de Leche Cupcake with Dulce de Leche Buttercream) that won two out of three categories at last year's Cupcake Challenge. The shop is open today until 5pm, closed Sunday.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
