Amy's Baking Company's Crazy Employee Rules Revealed

With our free press under threat and federal funding for public media gone, your support matters more than ever. Help keep the LAist newsroom strong, become a monthly member or increase your support today .

Well, the folks from Amy's Baking Company are sure making their newly-hired publicistwork for their money. After their horrificly hilarious episode of "Kitchen Nightmares," a former employee came out and did an AMA with Reddit, revealing some of the ridiculous rules in place at the restaurant. Now Samy and Amy Bouzaglo's full list of policies is on display.

Radar Online obtained a full list of the rules, which you can viewhere. Some of the wackiest of which are as follows. (And trust us when we say it was hard to pluck our five faves.):

6). You must leave the premise immediately after your scheduled shift, and no family or friends may come to see you while working. 8). No purses or bags are allowed inside ABC, (exceptions may be made) however upon leaving a designated employee of ABC has the legal right and consent to inspect any and all packages that you may have brought with you.

11) No visiting or unnecessary talking is allowed during your work shift. This causes distractions and results in loss of product. Any may result in possible harm to you, or to others.

13). Any product such as food or plates that are broken or burned due to direct negligence will be taken from your pay check at ABC's cost.

16) Holidays and Weekends are Mandatory, by signing this contract you are accepting that you will be required to work all Holidays, and Weekends. Due to the nature of our Industry this is a necessity and any No-Show will be monetarily penalized with a fee of $250.00.

So what's the excuse on this one, guys? Were your company documents hacked, too?

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else. Become a monthly member today to help sustain this mission.

Thank you for your generous support and belief in the value of independent news.
