A robbery suspect was shot and killed by LAPD early Tuesday morning in Canoga Park after a short foot chase. Police responded to a 911 call of an attempted robbery of two people outside a gas station on Topanga Canyon and Roscoe boulevards shortly after midnight, reports the L.A. Times .

As police arrived the suspect ran and allegedly displayed a handgun. The suspect did not fire at police, according to officials, but a handgun was recovered at the scene where the man died, reports Fox LA . The suspect's name has not been released and an investigation is ongoing.

Westbound Roscoe Boulevard was closed between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Fallbrook Avenue. Eastbound Roscoe Boulevard remained open.
