Family Values Republican Assemblyman Apparently Caught in a Lobbyist Tryst [Updated]
[Update: After being ousted from his committee assignments later this morning, Duvall resigned from his post]
Talk about scandal. In an exclusive, KCAL9 obtained a video of Orange County Assemblyman Michael Duvall (R-Yorba Linda) allegedly talking about at least two sexual relations beyond his marriage. Why would a 54-year-old man like Duvall be such a popular guy with the Sacramento ladies? Speculation leads to his position of power on the Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee where he sits as Vice Chairman.
The way he talks about these women gets a bit NSFW. "She wears little eye-patch underwear," the married politician with two children said near a mic he did not realize was on. "So, the other day she came here with her underwear, Thursday. And so, we had made love Wednesday--a lot! And so she'll, she's all, 'I am going up and down the stairs, and you're dripping out of me!' So messy!" Dripping? Oh, man...
Another excerpt, via OC Weekly:
"And so her birthday was Monday," he said at the Wednesday, July 8 committee hearing. "I was 54 on June 14, so for a month, she was 19 years younger than me. I said, 'Now, you're getting old. I am going to have to trade you in.' And she goes, '[I'm] 36.' She is 18 years younger than me. And so I keep teasing her, and she goes, 'I know you French men. You divide your age by two and add seven, and if you're older than that, you dump us.'"
Heidi DeJong Barsuglia, one of the top lobbyists for Sempra Energy, turned 36 years old on Monday, July 6, finds the Weekly. One source tells the paper their relationship is the "worst-kept secret in Sacramento."
Duvall represents the 72nd District, covering areas such as Anaheim, Orange, La Habra, Yorba Linda, Placentia and Fullerton. Before joining the Assembly in 2006, he was a Yorba Linda City Councilman, a member of the Orange County Sanitation District board and the Orange County Transportation Authority, according to the LA Times. And like a seedy Chicago politician he runs an insurance business with his wife on the side.
