Okay, Who Is Running the Fake Eric Garcetti Twitter Account?
Here's one Twitter account that is definitely not going to earn that blue "verified account" checkmark: A fake Eric Garcetti has been Tweeting since January 22, spreading mostly dopey messages of eco-friendliness and love of KCRW.
L.A. Now has shined the spotlight on the faux account, @eric_garcetti, which offers the tagline: "Your next mayor. Your next best friend. Your next everything."
Meanwhile, the real Eric Garcetti, aka @ericgarcetti, has said through a spokesperson the Tweets (i.e. "Life is like a skinny tie...it goes great with a martini! #shakenANDstirred") are "harmless" but not really helpful, which is the purpose of Garcetti's well-used and long-established account.
Has anyone asked Zuma Dogg if the account is his handiwork? He is the likely culprit of the "unofficial" @LACityCouncil Twitter account, too. Hmm...
