- Donato Lopez, who owned Cafe Tropical in Silver Lake, has died. A memorial to Lopez is currently inside the eatery.
- This is the machine that is going to begin digging the Crenshaw line for Metro. The machine's name is Harriet.
- The ex-treasurer of the Fullerton youth soccer league has been arrested for allegedly embezzling $174,000.
- Robert Durst, subject of HBO's The Jinx, pleaded guilty to gun possession charges in New Orleans today. This means he'll likely make it back to California to face murder charges by mid-August.
- And now, look at this little pygmy marmoset! She was abandoned by her parents and raised by the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation in Florida:
Meet Ninita, a pygmy marmoset who was abandoned by her parents after being born deaf. She was hand raised by staff at the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation, and now lives happily in her own enclosure with a boyfriend.
