Congress has cut federal funding for public media — a $3.4 million loss for LAist. We count on readers like you to protect our nonprofit newsroom. Become a monthly member and sustain local journalism.

This holiday season has become a bit turbulent for ailing elderly actress Zsa Zsa Gabor and her eccentric husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, after Gabor had to be whisked off to the hospital yet again for treatment.

Gabor, 95, "was rushed to UCLA medical center Wednesday morning after developing a nasty infection around her feeding tube," reports TMZ.

The enduring ingenue has had more than her fair share of health scares in the past few years. She current has a partially amputated leg, and a host of other medical woes that have plagued her of late. One recent hospitalization stemmed from the death of legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor; Gabor feared she was "next" and needed medical attention to help her through the nerve-wracking loss.

Though Gabor has found reason to celebrate, like her star-studded 95th birthday earlier this year, and last year's 25th anniversary with von Anhalt, there's also been a nasty battle over a proposed conservatorship by her daughter, and her Bel Air manse was burglarized.

This week's health scare, though, is really gutting the spirit of the season for the couple--at least according to von Anhalt, who said of the situation: "This really f**ked up our Christmas."

Gabor remains hospitalized today at UCLA Medical Center for monitoring.
