Why Prince Specifically Requested To Guest Star On 'New Girl'
It's already mind-boggling enough that Prince will be a guest star on an upcoming episode of New Girl, but it's even more fascinating that the pop icon specifically requested to be on the show.
"He contacted us last season because he's a huge fan," executive producer Brett Baer told E! News. "He knows everything about the show. He contacted Zooey [Deschanel] and Hannah [Simone] directly and asked to do the show. We couldn't work it out last year. But when the Super Bowl thing was floated, it was perfect timing."
It gets better: Not only is Prince a "huge fan" of the show, he's heavily invested in the romance between the main characters. "He said, ‘I want to be involved in the show in a real way and I want to help Nick and Jess with their relationship,'" said executive producer Dave Finkel.
The episode, which will air on Fox after the Super Bowl on Feb. 2, will actually feature Prince trying to help Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Deschanel) work out their differences. Ask and ye shall receive! (But really, who would ever turn down a request from Prince? After all, you've got to respect a music icon who is willing to jam for fans until 6 a.m. in a black jumpsuit!) Associated Press reported that the episode will be about Jess getting invited to Prince's mansion party and how her friends try to crash it.
We really need to see this for ourselves.
Looks like Prince is more than a little enthused about his cameo and especially about Deschanel. He's tweeted about the actress (three times in a row, in fact) through the Twitter account for his current band 3rd Eye Girl, posting photos and videos of her. Interesting...

Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
