Amaaazin'! Where To Stream Free Episodes Of Huell Howser's TV Show 'California's Gold'
Have you been meaning to catch up on—or revisit—old episodes of Huell Howser's TV show "California's Gold"? It's time to head over to Huellhowserarchive.com if you haven't already.
The website is hosted by Chapman University, the private Orange County university that was the heir to Howser's estate after his death. Yesterday the campus hosted Huell Howser Day and put on display memorabilia, gifts and artifacts from his travels. Howser left his homes, savings but also archives of his show, which were recently digitized.
Howser's relationship with the university began years back (no one seems to remember exactly when) after he did an episode on Old Towne Orange but failed to visit the nearby campus. The college president wrote a hand-written note—which naturally impressed Howser—and the iconic TV star returned to the campus for an episode.
He adored the school and its students. Chapman President James Doti told the OC Register, "He found this to be a very friendly place. He said, 'This is my favorite place, coming on campus.'"
And that's why Chapman University, alongside KCET of course, has full episodes for you to stream online for free.
Howser roamed the entire state and occasionally went abroad, but we've indexed some of the episodes he did in the Los Angeles area:

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.
But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
