Videos: Kanye West Tells Jimmy Kimmel, "I'm Totally Weird, Inappropriate" And A "Creative Genius"

One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

Finally, after his expletive, #ALLDISRESPECTOJIMMYKIMMEL-filled Tweet tirade, performer Kanye West appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's late night talk show. West said he didn't even see the whole sketch parodying him that got him so upset—he was just really upset that Kimmel seemed to diss him.

The sketch featured children acting as West and a BBC 1 Radio interviewer, re-enacting West's interview where he declared himself the #1 rock star on the planet. West said, "I knew you before. So when I saw the video, which I didn't watch all the way through because I didn’t want to be infuriated, I said, 'Well, I know you.' So the combination of me knowing you, but not knowing the person who put a bad headline on the cover of In Touch … I thought, 'Well, this is the one person I know!' So I can go and let out anything that I feel about every single bogus weekly cover, every single bogus skit, every rumor in every barbershop, every person who feels it's okay to treat celebrities like zoo animals."

West also said, "I'm not running for office. And when I did that interview, I was vocal about a lot of things that I've been dealing with over the last 10 years as I was put in the classification of 'just' a celebrity, because for me, I'm a creative genius, and there's no other way to word it. I know you're not supposed to say that about yourself and I say things the wrong way a lot of times, but my intention is always positive."

Kimmel pointed out, "I don't know if you know this, but a lot of people think you're a jerk... When you said you think you're a genius, I think that upsets people. But the truth is a lot of people think they're geniuses, but nobody says it because it's weird to say it. But it is most certainly more honest to say, 'I am a genius.'"

The rapper replied, "I'm totally weird and totally honest and I'm totally inappropriate sometimes, and the thing is for me not to say I'm not a genius I'd be lying to you and to myself."

West also addressed the fascination with his family—girlfriend Kim Kardashion and their new baby girl North West: "The way the paparazzi talk to me and my family is disrespectful also, you know what I'm saying? We bring something of joy to the world. When people hear my music they have a good time, and I should be respected as such when I walk down the street. Don't ask me a question about something you saw on the tabloids. Don't try to antagonize me, because it's not safe for you in this zoo, you know? Never think that I'm not from Chicago for one second." On the upside, Kimmel gave baby North some leather jogging pants!
