Video: Jeremy Renner And Chris Evans Slut-Shame Avengers' Black Widow
It looks like we have yet another uncomfortable press junket interview from the stars of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. Digital Spy asked Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans about Scarlett Johansson's character Black Widow. The pair responded by sounding more like a couple of unfiltered bitter bros slut-shaming an ex (and making fun of her disability) over a couple of beers than big-shot stars promoting a superhero sequel in 2015:
RENNER: She's a slut. EVANS: (laughing) I was about to say something along that line. She's a complete whore.
RENNER: What a trick, man.
EVANS: (laughing) She's a slut.
DIGITAL SPY: Whatever movie it is, she'll just be the side kick, she'll be flirting away...
RENNER: That's right.
EVANS: Just flirting with everybody.
RENNER: She has a prosthetic leg anyway.
EVANS: Just leading everybody on...
“Yesterday we were asked about the rumors that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America,” Evans said in a statement provided to EW. “We answered in a very juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize.” “I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone,” Renner also said in a statement provided to EW. “It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour.”
