Rooftop Cinema Club Expands To Second Roof Downtown

The Rooftop Cinema Club, which has been screening cult classics and new releases atop the Montalban in Hollywood for three seasons now, adds a second “roof” to its L.A. empire: LEVEL in Downtown L.A. While technically not a rooftop, the terrace of the LEVEL “aparthotel,” near the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and The Ace Hotel, opens on June 7, just in time for the summer outdoor screening season.
A different slate of films from the Montalban location will be shown at LEVEL four to five times a week through October. They’re opening with the highly debated La La Land, but follow up with June lineup that includes a number of cult classics and fan favorites like Get Out, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Grease, Donnie Darko and Back to the Future.
The LEVEL location opens two hours before each screening (which depends on sunset) and features those comfy deck chairs and wireless headphones to drown out the city noise. Individual tickets are $19-$30; the Rooftop Love Seats ($29-$35) can only be bought in pairs, but the Loveseats come with bottomless popcorn and a choice of drinks. All events at LEVEL are 21+.
