PETA Calls Kim Kardashian a Bad Mother, Child Has Not Yet Been Born

One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

PETA has never been a big fan of Kim Kardashian, with an activist for the animal rights organization once flour-bombing the reality star on the red carpet.

But now, they've taken their hatred for Kim one step further -- in an interview with Radar Online, PETA spokesperson Wendy Wegner basically called Kim a bad mom for wearing a fur stole:

“Children of greedy, self-absorbed parents could follow their lead or they could break away and be alienated from and disgusted by them...Kim is a commodity; she is paid to wear things like fur, a particular makeup, or to shake hands with dictators, so she is not a good example to a child or anyone else of how to show a social conscience...Thankfully, this child will be growing up in a time when most people know how blatantly cruel it is to buy a coat made from someone else’s skin, so there is hope.”

Wegner went on to say that hopefully, Kim's unborn baby will take after Kim's sister, Khloe, who once posed in an anti-fur billboard:

“Youngsters naturally identify and empathize with animals - so even though Kim and Kanye will undoubtedly serve as poor examples when it comes to kindness toward animals, perhaps their child will take after aunt Khloe and choose kindness by rejecting fur.”

PETA keeps what they call a "file" on the reality star, in which they detail her various offenses against animals. They have in the past taken out billboards calling her a grinch, and placed her on worst-dressed lists.

One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our nonprofit newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our communities. We are free to follow facts wherever they lead and to hold power to account without fear or favor.
