Madonna Lends Support to Critically Injured 14-Year-Old Pakistani Activist
Madonna has an opinion about politics, you guys, and she voice it at her performance at the Staples Center last night. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Material Girl spoke out against the shooting of 14-year-old Pakistani blogger Malala Yousafzai at her concert, declaring it "sick:"
"This made me cry...The 14-year-old schoolgirl who wrote a blog about going to school. The Taliban stopped her bus and shot her. Do you realize how sick that is? Support education! Support women!"
Yousafzai, who has written about her struggles in going to school and has been a champion for education for girls, was shot in the head and neck on Tuesday by a member of the Taliban. Two other girls were shot at the same time, and while all three lived, Yousafzai is still unconscious in the hospital.
After announcing her feelings about the shooting, Madonna turned around to reveal "Malala" written across her back.
