Macallan Presents The Masters of Photography
Last Thursday night "The Masters of Photography Collection" was unveiled at M + B Gallery in West Hollywood. The world-renowned, not to mention charming and hilarious photographer Rankin shot 1,000 unique Polaroids that will each grace 1,000 bottles of limited edition Macallan Fine Oak 30 Years Old. There are only 150 of these bottles in the United States. The primarily black and white photographs were shot on the Macallan estate over six days. The gorgeous blonde model is none other than Rankin's girlfriend.
The event was a smash, crowded with television personalities, musicians, and Heidi Klum who was trailed by the entire cast of the next Germany's Next Top Model. Catered by Bread and Wine, the menu consisted of hors d'ouvres made with Macallan. You haven't lived until you've eaten ice cream made from blended Scotch whisky.
As Rankin put it, "Macallan is the best fuckin whisky in the world!"
After the jump, check out detailed information on the Fine Oak whisky.
According to their American ambassador, Eden Algie, Macallan was built on sherry cask bottling, Over 60 percent of the color, character, finish and flavor of the whisky comes from the cask. They spend 10 times more on casks than anything else. They set up a process in Northern Spain, and take the casks to season in southern Spain. It takes eight years to make one of their casks, which are shipped whole to Scotland. Macallan gives the casks to the sherry producers, who season it and give it back.
The Fine Oak Macallan uses three casks. The whisky is a combination of whiskies from from a sherry cask, an American oak cask, and the third is from an American cask seasoned with Bourbon. This makes it lighter, fresher, and more contemporary.
